Short Description:

Austenitic stainless steel refers to stainless steel with an austenitic structure at room temperature. Austenitic stainless steel is one of the five classes of stainless steel by crystalline structure (along with ferritic, martensitic, duplex and precipitation hardened). In some areas, the austentite stainless steel is also called the 300 series stainless steel. When the steel contains about 18% Cr, 8%-25% Ni, and about 0.1% C, it has a stable austenite structure.

Austenitic precipitation hardening stainless steel is a stainless steel with stable austenite structure in both quenched and aging states. Its nickel content and manganese content are high, and the chromium content is higher than 13% to ensure good corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance. At the same time, austenitic precipitation hardening stainless steel usually adds titanium, aluminum, vanadium or phosphorus as precipitation hardening elements, and adds a small amount of boron, vanadium, nitrogen and other elements to obtain excellent comprehensive properties.

Cast iron is an iron-carbon cast alloy with other elements that is made by remelting pig iron, scrap, and other additions. For differentiation from steel and cast steel, cast iron is defined as a cast alloy with a carbon content (min 2.03%) that ensures the solidification of the final phase with a eutectic transformation.

Depending on chemical specifications, cast irons can be non- alloyed or alloyed. The range of alloyed irons is much wider, and they contain either higher amounts of common components, such as silicon and manganese, or special additions, such as nickel, chromium, aluminum, molybdenum, tungsten, copper, vana- dium, titanium, plus others. Generally speaking, the cast iron could be divided into gray iron, ducitle iron (nodular iron), white cast iron, compacted graphite iron and malleable cast iron.
